在美国撤军2021时，在执行一项营救任务时，一组传教士从阿富汗的一个村庄撤离，一支海豹突击队直升机被一群叛乱分子击落。海豹突击队的一名队长理查德·米尔科（约翰尼·斯特朗饰）从飞机残骸中被扔了出来，奇迹般地从飞机失事中幸存下来。米尔科继续搜寻传教士，但发现他们的车辆遭到伏击，这是唯一的幸存者：一名受伤的5岁儿童。米尔科现在必须通过敌对叛乱分子的挑战，引导孩子走向安全，并在残酷的阿富汗荒野中生存。
